March 2024 General meeting. Following the business meeting, Ryan Sanford will present "Fort Custer National Cemetary." 
 
Fort Custer National Cemetery, near Augusta, MI, in Kalamazoo County, encompasses over 770 acres and has over 33,000 interments. Full military funeral honors are offered to every veteran interred at Fort Custer. This includes a rifle salute, playing taps, folding the flag, and presenting the flag to the next of kin. There is no charge for these services for anyone possessing an honorable discharge and their spouse.
 
This event is hybrid (Portage District Library, 300 Library Lane, Portage, MI, and on Zoom). Socializing and refreshments begin at 6:30 pm at the library.

Saturday Library Hours: 9 am - 6 pm
 
Members and friends, please join us at the ACPL Genealogy Center for an enjoyable genealogical research and exploration day. Attendees are asked to drive or carpool to the library at 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, IN, where seasoned KVGS researchers and the Genealogy Center's wonderful librarians will be available to assist you in your research.
 
Schedule includes:
  • 9 am to 11 am - Greet other KVGS attendees in the Alan McMahan Room, located on the 1st floor (light refreshments provided)
  • 10 am - Genealogy Center Tour
  • 9 am to 6 pm - Research and explore your heart's desire

Michael is an active Vlogger on YouTube and host of the podcast Tales of Southwest Michigan's Past. His new book, "Victorian Southwest Michigan True Crime," will be released through History Press on March 11, 2024, and includes seventeen lost true crime stories from Southwest Michigan History.
