Might you have a bit of Scottish DNA in your roots? Even if you don’t, you won’t want to miss Kalamazoo’s annual Scottish Festival and Highland Games! This free, family-friendly event has been a staple of Kalamazoo for 34 years!
KVGS will participate again this year with a cultural booth to foster interest in genealogical activities. We need approximately 8-10 volunteers to work for 2-3 hours on the day of the event, in teams of 2-3. Will you help? If so, please contact Pam at info@mikvgs.org to add your name and contact information to our volunteer list.

CanadianaFest (KVGS Events)
1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Arcadia Creek Festival Place, Kalamazoo, MI
Previous fan favorites will be back:
- Sports Clinics in Lacrosse, Hockey, Basketball, Curling – all Canadian-developed sports.
- Canadian and Indigenous music throughout the day, with a major concert in the evening.
- Canadian beer, wine, beverages, and Canadian foods, especially Poutine!
- Cultural booths related to Canadian heritage activities
- Canadian-inspired crafts - Children’s activities
KVGS has had a Cultural Booth at CanadianaFest since the first Festival on a rainy day in 2023!
This year, our booth will be open from 1 pm - 7 pm. We need KVGS members/genealogists helping to set up, take down, and interact with the public for a few hours. We will be dividing the time into three shifts and need 2-3 volunteers for each shift. Volunteers get in free and can enjoy the other festival activities before or after their shifts.
